MESSAGE TO PARENTS

Youth Parents, 
​
With the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, we have made some changes to how youth at Valdosta FUMC will operate for the Fall 2020 semester.

We aim to return back to in-person youth group gatherings. In order to make that possible, the health and wellness of our youth and adults is our top priority. With that in mind, we have decided it best to have separate Middle School and High School youth group gatherings this semester.

Middle School youth will meet on 1st and 3rd Sundays and High School youth will meet on 2nd and 4th Sundays. 5th Sundays will be reserved for combined outside youth group gatherings.

​All adults that work with our youth are Safe Sanctuaries trained and will be trained on procedures to keep our youth safe and healthy at all times while they are on church campus. 

If you have any questions or concerns at any time, please don't hesitate to contact Emily Reaves or any of the members of the Youth Council. Also please be aware that if at any time the Youth Council or the Valdosta FUMC Coronavirus Taskforce determines that it is not safe to meet in-person because of rising COVID numbers, we will alter in-person gatherings and return to online gatherings.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT SUNDAY NIGHT YOUTH 
(NEW COVID-19 PROCEDURES)

Pre-Youth Parental Screening
Parents please ask and answer these questions about your youth before Sunday Night Youth. (You do not have to send us your answers...we trust you :-)

• Has your student been recently exposed to someone that has COVID-19?
  • YES? Student needs to stay home and probably should be tested. 
• Has your student experienced a cough, shortness of breath or a fever over 99° recently?
  • YES? Student needs to stay home and/or go to the doctor. 
• If all answers are NO, student may participate in youth activities

Entering the Building

• Student’s name will be recorded at check-in
• Temperature check (no admittance if temp is over 99°)
  • Parents please wait until youth has been checked in before leaving
• Mask on during check-in
• Use hand sanitizer while being checked in

Indoor On-Campus Protocol  

• Masks must be worn at all times (expect while eating) 
• Students need to sit 6 feet apart while mask is not being worn

ZOOM Alternative Option
ZOOM will be available for youth that want to participate, but are not able to attend in-person gatherings for whatever reason. 

• ZOOM Option will be from 5:45PM-7:00PM
  • 5:45PM ZOOM log-on and welcome ​(please note the time difference)
  • Students that join on by ZOOM will be able to participate in the group lesson and small groups that follow. When the youth break out into small groups zoom participants will be placed in their specific small group (how cool!)
  • ZOOM login information is sent through our Youth News e-mail (you can subscribe to Youth News by filling out the form farther down)

Snack Supper

• NO FOOD will be provided to students during Sunday Night Youth
  • Students are encouraged to bring their own snack or dinner if they want.
• There will be no sharing of food (unless students reside in the same household)
• We will have water available for students

Youth Games

• Non-contact games
• Socially distant games

Cleaning and Sanitizing

• Cleaning and sanitizing all spaces used will be done each week
