Prayer Ministry

Intercessory Prayer - What is it?
Intercessory prayer is prayer for others. An intercessor is one who takes the place of another or pleads another's case. One study Bible defines intercession as "holy, believing, persevering prayer whereby someone pleads with God on behalf of another or others who desperately need God's intervention." The Prayer Alert Ministry of First United Methodist Church seeks to provide the prayer leaders of our church timely information on the urgent prayer needs of our congregation, our friends and family and those in our lives that need urgent and immediate intercessory prayer.

Intercessory Prayer - The Biblical Foundation
The Biblical basis for the New Testament believer's ministry of intercessory prayer is our calling as priests unto God. The Word of God declares that we are a holy priesthood (1 Peter 2:4), a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:8), and a kingdom of priests (Revelation 1:5).

The Prayer Alert Ministry of First United Methodist Church recognizes that there are those in our church with the spiritual gift of prayer and seeks to place before those people the prayer needs of our church family.

Use the form on this page to sign-up as a praying intercessor for the individual prayer needs of this part of the body of Christ.  By doing this, you will be added to an electronic mailing list so that you will get immediately notified of urgent and immediate prayer concerns (Those prayer needs of a non-urgent or ongoing nature are handled separately through the Prayer Room at FUMC)
